2025 - 2026: As Sustainability Advisor to the Gallery Climate Coalition, I carried out the calculations to support their Global Stocktake Report, assessing the emissions from the international visual arts sector and mapping out paths for reduction.

2025: I delivered educational modules, interactive workshops, presentations or seminars on sustainable practice for Sotheby’s Institute of Art, Blooloop, Exhibitions Connect, Julie’s Bicycle and the Bodies of Water Symposium, among others.

2022 - 2024: As Environmental Advisor to the Hybrid Futures Project, I calculated the carbon emissions from a series of sustainability-themed art exhibitions in the North-West of England, and worked with the artists and institutions to celebrate positive environmental actions they had taken, and make recommendations for the future.

2023: As part of my ongoing support work for Christian Aid, we celebrated a 2/3 reduction in the charity’s emissions from flights, buildings, vehicle use and printing between 2008/09 and 2019/20, and set ambitious new reduction targets for 2030.

2022: I worked with digital exhibition creators Vortic on a pioneering study showing the potential carbon savings from using digital techniques to share artworks internationally, rather than aviation.

2020: I was part of the core team who built the Gallery Climate Coalition’s free online carbon calculator for arts organisations. We upgraded the tool in 2024, the latest version can be seen here.

2019: I carried out an influential case study for the artist Gary Hume and the shipping company Cadogan Tate, showing that transporting artwork between London and New York by ocean rather than air had reduced the emissions of the shipment by around 95%.

2015: My second book, No-Nonsense Renewable Energy, was published by New Internationalist.

2013: I worked with the UK Tar Sands Network to develop Two Energy Futures, a groundbreaking infographic showing how the world could become zero-carbon by 2040.

2010: I developed an interactive online tool in partnership with the Guardian, to allow readers to test out the impact of different climate policies on the UK economy.

2010: My first book, The No-Nonsense Guide to Climate Change, was published by New Internationalist.

2007: In my earliest days as a carbon analyst, while working for Best Foot Forward, I played a supporting role in a groundbreaking report commissioned by Radiohead into the carbon emissions of their North American tours.
